Shante Williams

“My passion since a young child has always been to help and connect with youth.  While growing up, my parents taught me that the world was not fair and so many children suffer from it.  At a young age, my parents started serving as foster parents so that they can help support youth that may have families going through difficult things in life.  I took that small step and made it my charge to continue to help youth that may have families going through a tough time. Having the opportunity to be a part of the Black Child Legacy Champaign has allowed me to support and wrap around families from the parent to the child with the help of the team with similar goals.  My goal is continue to help families’ one family at a time, empowering them to make a change to help others.”

Shante Williams is currently the Firehouse Community Center manager with Mutual Assistance Network. Her role in the community center is to make an effective change with the families she serves. She currently supports the efforts with the Black Child Legacy Campaign in Sacramento County.  Working with children is her passion and she has focused on providing activities and support to young ladies.  While working with youth, Shante realized that some of the support they needed was to help their families, which lead her to find ways to not only support the youth but their family as well.  Shante earned a degree in Human Services with a concentration in Children and Families because she learned that the family as a whole needed love and support.  Shante also holds a Master of Business Administration.

Shante is a mother of three amazing boys.  She is a coordinator for the youth summer program at Antioch Progressive Church in Sacramento, California.  Shante is a member and an advisor for young ladies with the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, INC. Rhoer Club working with youth ages 12-18.
